The social club organized a daylong event at BVIMR, New Delhi to observe the World AIDS Day on 1st December 2007. This programme gave an interesting view of the world of HIV/AIDS relief.
World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007,[1] and an estimated 33 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007,[2] making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history.
Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.
The Red Ribbon is the international symbol of support for people living with HIV. Wearing a red ribbon is a great way to raise awareness about HIV as well as to break down stigma and prejudice, so make sure you get yours in time for World AIDS Day
This year the slogan for World AIDS Day Campaign (WAC) was: "Stop AIDS: Keep the
Promise and Take the Lead". It was an appeal to all the sections of society such as
Families, communities and civil society organizations – not just the governments – to take Initiatives to fight this pandemic.
