World AIDS Day is December 1st.

World AIDS day is right around the corner and that means it’s a great time to talk about prevention and education surrounding the HIV virus in NY.

This years World AIDS day theme is "Working Together for an AIDS-Free Generation" which the World Health Organization thinks we can accomplish. Wiping out AIDS would be an amazing contribution to my generation.

Education is a key factor in stopping the AIDS virus in it’s tracks. Every year in NY we take important steps in doing just that with events like the AIDS Walk in May that has raised almost four and a half million dollars and the NY information line you may call 24 hours a day. 1-800-541-AIDS

"Staying informed and regular testing, especially in high risk groups, is how we are going to beat this thing," said Joel Richardson of Your STD Help a proponent and active member of World AIDS Day.

Because HIV and AIDS are very often asymptomatic, meaning have no or light symptoms, testing is absolutely important. People often spread the virus and not even know they are infected because they feel fine. Often it can take years for them to find out how sick they really are.

This world AIDS Day help out by donating what you can to local charities that deal with HIV and AIDS and most important get tested and bring someone with you. It’s up to all of us in the state of New York and around the world to bring this incurable disease to a halt.
