Jammu, October 14 (Scoop News) – To celebrate International Day of Rural Women, which is observed on October 15 worldwide, Women’s Centre of Government College Women (GCW), Gandhinagar, Jammu organized a trip of students to village Dharap.
The objective of the trip was to sensitize the students about the crucial role and contribution of rural women in enhancing agricultural and rural development and improving food security.
The trip was undertaken by the members of Women’s Studies Centre, including staff and students under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof Nalini Kohli.
The students and teachers formed groups and visited various houses and interacted with the women folk of the household and gathered information regarding multiple roles of rural women and their contribution in supporting the rural community and opportunities and challenges faced by them.
The emancipated women of the village were presented with gifts to motivate them to carry on the positive work they were doing. School going kids were presented with stationery as a gesture of encouragement.
