World Renowned Eye Doctor Finds Link between Scurvy and Cataracts

According to the World Health Organization, 51 percent of the blindness experienced by 20 million people in the world is a result of cataracts. Meanwhile, the National Institute of Health reports that older adults who are not getting proper nutrition are the biggest group of people in the country who are affected by scurvy. Now, a world-renowned doctor has linked the two of these issues together, suggesting that cataracts may be a form of focal scurvy.

“When you look at what we know about scurvy and what we know about cataracts it just makes sense that the two issues have a common thread,” explains Dr. Edward Kondrot, founder of the Healing The Eye & Wellness Center. “The common thread between the two, which can help naturally restore vision in those with cataracts, is that of vitamin C.”

Cataracts is an eye condition where clouding of the lens takes place, thus impacting vision. It’s common around the world, as well as in America and can affect one or both eyes. Scurvy, on the other hand, is a disease caused by vitamin C deficiency. The disease causes weakness, anemia, and a breakdown of connective tissue within the body. Bridging the two diseases together, it has been shown that when cataracts develop, the amount of vitamin C in the area surrounding the lens decreases.

At The Eye & Wellness Center, Dr. Kondrot is offering high dosage (25 to 100 grams) intravenous vitamin C therapy in an effort to help cataract patients restore their vision naturally. The vitamin C is given through a treatment involving one per day, for five days total. The intravenous route is necessary so that taking such a high dosage does not impact the gastrointestinal system or cause discomfort. Typically, oral dosages over 3-5 grams per day of vitamin C can lead to gastrointestinal distress.

“My treatment plan helps people get the vitamin C they need in order to address the cataracts problem, but it will avoid any negative gastrointestinal issues that arise by trying to take such a high dosage orally,” adds Dr. Kondrot. “Those with cataracts should choose a natural route to addressing the issue. It’s safer, effective, and offers maximum comfort.”
