New Delhi (PIB-GR-TYP-BIN): World’s first female twins to successfully climb Mount Everest, Ms. Tashi and Ms. Nungshi Malik called on the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Kiren Rijiju on July 7. The siblings had scaled the highest peak in the world on May 19, 2013 at a tender age of 21 and they featured in the 60th edition of Guinness World Records.
Within just two years and a month from that historic achievement, they have become the world’s first twins and siblings to climb the famed ‘Seven Summits’ (highest peaks in all continents), the prestigious ‘Adventurers Grand Slam’ (seven summits plus ski to North and South Poles) and ‘Three Pole Challenge’ besides setting several national and regional records.
Lauding their achievements, the Minister said the twin teenagers should be a role model and youth icons for the young generation especially in a country tackling the challenges of female foeticide and illiteracy. He wished them success in their future endeavours.
