If you’ve ever taken out a pet insurance policy, you’ve no doubt grumbled at the cost and wondered just how that big ball of fur could possibly be worth so much. Well, one woman was recently given a quote to insure her rabbit that would make most people’s mouths drop, with a final total of $1.6 million to insure her pet rabbit Darius.
Darius is the world’s largest rabbit, which makes him a little bit special and thankfully not all rabbit insurance quotes are this excessive.
On a day to day level, Darius eats one bowl of cereal, two red apples, half a cabbage and 12 carrots and all of this followed by an ever growing pile of hay to snack on.
And it’s not just his food stack that’s growing, Darius now four feet and three inches still has around six months of growing left to do.
The twelve month old bunny who has already snagged the world record for largest bunny still has plenty of growing to do, leaving him to create a nice gap from any other rabbits hoping to catch up with his record.
Interestingly enough, his rivals don’t live too far from him. In fact, Darius stole the title from Alice, now the world’s second largest rabbit who lives with Darius and two other record breaking rabbits.
Owned by Annette Edwards, a successful rabbit breeder and enormous insurance quote lover, Darius is quickly becoming an international media sensation. Asked what her secret for breeding such large rabbits was, Edwards answered that it simply boiled down to care and nurture.
