The engine to be used (Propellant Booster) for Indian Spacecraft [Chandrayaan] is 138 tons world’s most powerful spacecraft engine. This engine is fixed in PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle).
Chandrayaan will be launched by PSLV-c11 satellite launch vehicle. The lenth is 44.4 m. Solid and liquid fuel will be used in 4 stages. Since the distance to be covered is extremely high e.g. 3,84,000 Km , the PSLV is modified & 6 solid fuel engines are added to PSLV. Each engine has 12 tons of solid fuel capacity. In 2nd stage 41.2 tons liquid and in 3rd stage 7.6 tons of solid fuel will be burned. In last stage i.e. 4th stage 2.5 tons of liquid fuel in dual type engine. The total weight of PSLV is 316 Tons.
PSLV has successfully used 12 times from 1993. This PSLV has failed once. This will be 14th ride of PSLV. It has successfully placed 29 satellites of India and other countries in their proper orbit.
To ensure the success of Chandrayaan, PSLV is improved with ultra accurate direction control system.
