"Yelagiri" is a small hill station situated in the Thirupathur Taluk of Vellore District, is not known to many.In the recent past it has been developing into a third hill resort, next only to Ooty and Kodaikanal.Today the small sleepy town has been witnessing an real estate boom,by attracting a large number of IT professionals, non-resident Indians, politicians, bureacrats like IAS,IPS officers to purchase land here.
Yelagiri has been an attraction because of its thin population, unspoiled environment, four hours drive from Chennai and three hours drive from Bangalore. Since Ooty and Kodaikanal are overpopulated and so congested, the Tamil Nadu Government is thinking and considering to promote it as a tourist resort. The central government is also helping some projects, resulting in the real estate boom and promotion.More than 70 % lands of the 14 villages included in the Yelagiri panchayat has already been sold out , resulting in the skyrocketting in the land value in and around Yelagiri
The land value in the Yelagiri region which had been between Rs 3,000/- and 4,000/- a year ago has now become Rs 30,000/ to 60,000/- and in the interior villages between Rs 15,000/ to 30,000/-.Whatever might be the rate, because of the investors from the field of IT from Bangalore,NRI’s etc, the land is sellinjg like hot takes.Officals from the Jolarpet Sub-registrar office also confirmed the fast selling of lands atleast 30 every month. In the last few months alone nearly 1500 acres of lands in the Yelagiri Panchayat have been sold.
Therefore, the above mentioned land sales and real estate boom actually confirms the upcoming growth of a famous hill resort at YELAGIRI.
