Know it or not, believe it or not, Almighty God provided each man and woman with two pair of eyes and two pair of ears.
It is up to each person whether you use both pair or not.
Okay, after this opening, you are either thinking that I’m crazy,loonie toons, or you’re running to the nearest mirror to see for yourself if I might be right, and you missed something.
Fact is you have missed something, but you won’t see the second pair for they are only experienced through "Faith and Belief" faith and belief in God, and faith and belief in Jesus, and, faith and belief in God’s Holy Spirit.
We are all spiritual beings created by God, in His likeness, and God is "Spirit". Through our "Faith" as Christians, we know and believe in Almighty God Our Father, and we know and believe in Jesus Christ, His crucifixion and resurrection.
Through this faith and belief we have accepted Jesus as our redeemer faithfully accepting His sacrifice for the remission of our sins, thus permitting us to be recognized by God our Father as purified, justified, and sanctified, children, and joint heirs with Jesus.
Through our "Faith" we invite the Holy Spirit to indwell within us and carry out God’s will through us. This is what being a true "Christian" is based upon and is all about.
Thomas was not in the upper chamber when Jesus appeared to the apostles after the crucifixion, so when they told him that Jesus had appeared and spoken to them, being of little faith in Jesus or the resurrection he doubted their report.
JOHN: 20: 27-29;
"Then said he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou has seen me, thou has believed: blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed."
When you are in church, and it is time to receive communion, when you look at the wafer, or, the piece of bread, or, the cracker, being served you, What do you see?
Do you merely see that wafer, or cracker, or morsel of bread, and pretend, or do you actually see Our Lord Jesus?
As a true Christian, one who worships and adores Almighty God and Christ Jesus, I see with my spiritual eyes, and with my heart, the body of Jesus, being served to me each and every time.
When you are about to enter into danger, or to do something that you know to be wrong, going against God and His way, do you not hear that whisper from deep within, warning you of the danger or telling you not to do what you are about to do?
Some might think it, a "Gardian Angel" and it could be, others might call it their conscience, but as for me, I know it is God’s Holy Spirit, speaking to my spirit, warning me off.
Jesus was asked by His disciples why, when he talked to the people, especially when he spoke to the pharisees he talked to them in "Parables" and he answered them;
MATTHEW: 13: 13-15
"Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing, see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of E-sai-as, which saith,By hearing ye shall hear and shall not understand; and by seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive. For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their hearts and be converted, and I should heal them."
In LUKE: 11: 34; Jesus teaches:
"The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, the whole body is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body is full of darkness."
This was Jesus way of telling His followers, the axiom, that "The eyes are a mirror to the soul."
If we are free of sin and corruption, then our soul our body is seen illuminated, but if we are in sin or corruption, then we appear dark or in darkness.
It is only through the eyes of our spirit, we are capable and permitted to actually see Our Lord.
We are told by Paul in: I Corinthians: 2: 9-10;
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.But God hath revealed them unto us by His spirit:"
Blind Bartimaeus knew the importance of his eyes and his sight. He had heard through the towns people how Jesus had cured the blind and the lame and the lepers, and this one day as he sat begging alms, he heard a crowd coming towards him and asked about what was going on. He was told that Jesus was approaching.
Bartimaeus had great faith, and began crying out to jesus for mercy.
MARK: 10: 51-52;
"And Jesus answered and said unto him What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto Him, Lord that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole."
Truly we have two sets of eyes and two sets of ears, but unless we understand this as fact, we only ever use one set.
