Srinagar, May 19 (Scoop News) – Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports R S Chib today called upon youth to strengthen national integration, bonds of communal harmony, peace and amity in the country.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized to see-off the youth who had come from Delhi to take part in 2-day Peace and Solidarity Cricket Trophy held here. The match was jointly organized by Guild of Services and Rahat Ghar, Srinagar in collaboration with National Foundation for Communal Harmony and Central Reserve Police Force.
The Minister termed the event as a great step towards peace and integration of the country, adding that such events prove vital to exchange ideas and culture. He extended invitation to the school going children from outside the state for basic training in skiing course at Gulmarg during winter, adding that department of Youth Services and Sports would sponsor the course in coordination with Rahat Ghar.
Chib said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also very keen to develop sports infrastructure in every nook and corner of the state to tap the sports potential of the state. “Chief Minister has drawn-up a policy to honour the outstanding sportsmen of the state”, he added.
Chairperson, Guild of Services (GoS) Dr. Mohini Giri said the President of India is keen to organize friendly matches throughout the country, adding that some matches would be organized in the valley accordingly.
General Secretary, National Foundation for Communal Harmony Dr Lalit Kumar also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the hospitality of Kashmir for which it is known world over.
Giving brief account of the activities of Rahat Ghar, Srinagar, Chairperson, s Girga Dhar said that the organization was established in 2001 by the vision of Dr. Mohini Giri to provide shelter to orphans and widows rendered due to militancy in the state. She said it takes complete care of boarding, lodging, education and hospitality of the destitute.
Rahat Ghar facilitates higher education as well as vocational training for inmates if they possesses talent, Dhar said, adding initiatives have been taken to increase their employability and make them economically independent.
Later, The Minister distributed cricket kits among the participant teams.
Among others, Director, YSS Jaipal Singh, Joint Secretary, GoS Dr Deepali Bhanot, Commandant, CRPF Parvakar Tripathi, Deputy Directors, YSS Ashok Kumar and s Nilofer Amin, Principal, Linton Hall School, Dharonacharya awardee, Gursaran Singh, besides young players participated in the match were also present on the occasion.
