Youth Vote Could Be The ‘X-Factor’ On Who Wins Florida on Election Day

It is inevitable that states like Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and several others are going to be the crucial battleground states between Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona for the 2008 US Presidential Elections.

In a recent poll, it was revealed that Obama has been leading over McCain in states that were won by current United States President George W. Bush back in 2000 and 2004. For those that do not know, Bush is a Republican. In short, this is good for Obama and bad for McCain.

Last night, we got to watch the second US Presidential debate between Obama and McCain. So far, it was more exciting and interesting than the first one.

But, the debate has come and gone. We can look forward to the third debate which is due to take place soon in New York. Right now, let’s focus on the campaigning between Obama and McCain.

Currently, Obama VP-mate Democratic Senator Joe Biden of Delaware is campaigning in Florida. Biden took the opportunity to give a jab at McCain.

In regards to Florida, there is one possible X-Factor in young voters. So far, it’s revealing that the youth vote could help Obama win Florida. For those keeping up with the election race, the youth vote has been the greatest asset for Obama. It was proven during the Democratic primary between Obama and Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York.

Still, it is unknown how the youth vote will effect who wins Florida. But, there is a more than likely chance it could be in Obama’s favor. So far, it was unveiled since the 1990s, there have been an increase of people nineteen and under for those living in Florida. Florida is considered to be a retirement state.

That’s where my step-grandfather had settled when retiring. So far, there are more young people than there are older people in Florida. Perhaps in the next decade, Florida will no longer be considered a state where people move to retire.

In regards to Florida’s youth vote, Obama has a ten-point lead over McCain from 52-42.

According to one student, whoever wins the youth vote will win Florida.

Overall, the youth vote could be the one potential X-Factor in who ends up winning Florida on Election Day. So far the youth vote has helped out Obama.

Will the youth vote pull through for Obama on Election Day?
