Ganderbal/Srinagar, February 13 (Scoop News) – The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that central university would be set up in Ganderbal for which 4500 Kanal is being acquired adding that it would not only boost the economy of the people but also education scenario in the district.
The Minister while addressing a public meeting at Ganderbal here today said that Govt. contemplates to establish a forest college also in this district.
Sagar said that district Ganderbal would be developed as a model district for which Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made commitment with the people.
Regarding Panchayat Elections Sagar said that panchayat elections will empower the rural people to decide about their development plans at grass root level. He said the Panchayat Elections are being held after 32 years and later Local Body Elections would also be held in the state.

Sagar said that Govt. is committed for providing employment to 50,000 unemployed youth while 5500 vacancies have already been advertised.
Earlier Sagar distributed Rs 5.53 Lakh IAY cheques as first instalment among 40 beneficiaries for constructing low cost houses in Ganderbal Block.
Late Sagar reviewed the land acquisition process for central university at an officers meeting. He was informed that 4300 Kanals have been acquired for the purpose.
