19 couples tie in knot in Mass marriage ceremony at Madaglasht.
CHITRAL: 19 new couples tied in knot during a mass marriage ceremony at Madaglasht some 100 kilometers from here. The ceremony was organized by Aga Khan Social Welfare Board (AKSWB) in collaboration with Namdar local council Madaglasht. Addressing on the ceremony honorary secretary Mrs. Shakella said that mass marriage is arranging for youngest couples to save them from wastage of time and money and to provide them an opportunity to arrange their marriage with a simple and easy way. She stressed on teenagers to avoid from marriage in early age. You must continue your education after marrying she added. President of Namdar council Madaglasht Sher Azim said that main objectives of mass marriage ceremony is to save our resources and to utilize them in other developmental sectors like health, education and infrastructures. Because normally we spent a huge amount and it take 3 days to arrange a marriage which is harmful for our society having less resources of income he added. Qazis of the area read Nikah of new couples and tie them in knot according to Sharia Muhammadi. Gifts were also presented to new couple to encourage them. During mass marriage only one Dish (food) was presented to guests to symbolize the tradition of simplicity and to convey a message to upper class to avoid from extra ordinary expenditures in marriages. Talking to this scribe a bride and bridegroom said that we are very happy because most of youngest deprive from marriage due to unnecessary customaries and poverty but by this way we can marry easily. A large number of people were presented on the occasion. Mass marriage ceremony was finalized with a simple way by charging only 7000 fee from each couple and tradition of one dish was also maintained. it is worth to mention here that last year this organization had arrange mass marriage ceremony where 27 couples were tied in knot.
