Jammu And Kashmir: Anguished over what they called as wild allegations by KP leader Shadi Lal Pandita, staff of the relief commissioner today shun work and squatted in the office premises demanding apology from Pandita or proof of the allegations raised against them. Zonal officers and all non gazetted employees later submitted a memorandum of demands to Relief Commissioner.
Protesting employees under the leadership of Desh Kumar Hangloo demanded that government should take stern action against Shadi Lal Pandita and his other family members who are withdrawing relief fraudulently. Hangloo also pointed out that some employees of relief organizations after retiring are misleading committee and common migrants. They asked the committee to come out with proof or apologize in public in a week otherwise strike will continue.
Shadi Lal Pandita leader of Jagti tenement committee said that if it is about proof and evidences, let the vigilance or crime branch take over the case of corruption and embezzlement in relief organization, he will provide all evidences. “Is it a crime to demonstrate against scarcity of drinking water, erratic power supply and shortage of staff in schools and healthcare centre?” questioned Pandita.
Pandita said that highlighting truth about nexus between relief employees working with organization for last two decades and fake migrants has frustrated employees who resorted to protests. Citing example of 181 families of Inderwan
Pandita said that they were protesting against inhuman treatment being given to poor migrants despite huge funds being allotted by Government of India for them. He said that higher officials have developed nexus in state as well as in centre to loot huge sums meant for the rehabilitation and relief of poor Kashmiri Pandit migrants. He demanded that at least cracks of buildings should be repaired to avert any big untoward incident, as soon as possible.
