To see BJP government in J&K is my dream : Savita Gupta

Jammu, October 27(Scoop News)- To felicitate daughter of the soil Savita Gupta on being elected as Mayor of South Delhi, State BJP organized a grand function in Rehari area of Jammu city on Saturday, when Savita Gupta reached the city of temples along with J&K Prabhari Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, her husband Satish Gupta and her Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) colleague corporators Rajni Multani and Anil Sabharwal.

BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas presented shawl, bouquet and  idol of Mata Vaishno Devi to Savita Gupta besides honouring Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and others.

Savita Gupta, while expressing gratitude to the state unit of BJP for felicitating and giving her so much of respect, said that it is indeed a day of joy as “I have been showered so much of love which cannot be explained in words”. She said that although I have been now in Delhi for years but my soul and mind still live here. My memories of childhood still take rounds in my mind and I really miss my family, friends and neighbours and their blessings which took me to such a respectable position of Mayor.

Speaking on J&K, she said that the issues related to this border state and party’s agenda have always been discussed regularly at New Delhi and every leader and party activist stands with our brothers and sisters of J&K in their pain and sorrows. She said that the party in J&K has been getting more strengthened with each passing day and it is my dream to see BJP in power here hoping that the day will come soon.

Praising her husband Satish Gupta for extending full support in political field, she said that it was only possible as he was always an encouraging person behind her. She said that success do not come by chance but we have to put hardwork, sincere efforts with a fixed target to achieve.

Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, while congratulating the people of Jammu for election of a Jammuite as South Delhi Mayor, said that it was the simplicity, commitment towards party and zeal to work in an impartial manner which made  Savita Gupta to take lead from others in her political line. He said that whatever responsibility was bestowed to her during her first two tenures as councillor of DMC invited appreciation from one and all not only in BJP but the general public too had praise for her and as a result of which she reached to the chair of Mayor, which is a rare feat.

Shamsher Singh Manhas said that Savita Gupta was born in a family which had to migrate from  Kotli Mirpur to Jammu during the 1947 partition. Her family and hundreds other similar families had to struggle hard for survival after their uprooting from homes and hearths in odd conditions. He said that such families spent their nights in open and managed their 2-times meal with very difficulty. In such conditions, many parents did the best possible to ensure that their children get study and become respectable citizens. Savita Gupta is an example of the commitment of the parents towards the future of their young ones. He asked the party activists to learn from the families which migrated from Kotli Mirpur and adopt the nationalist approach in their lives to defeat all such political leaders and organizations which make misleading statements of self-rule, autonomy, pre-1953 position and so on to divert the attention of the masses from real issues.

BJP State Vice-president Suresh Jamwal, Distt. Preisdent Rajesh Gupta and Mahila Morcha State President Sakina Bano also spoke on the occasion.

The proceedings of the function were conducted by State General Secretary Usha Choudhary and BJP Mahila Morcha State General Secretary Priya Sethi presented vote of thanks.
