For Thousands of years the Mayan calendar prophecy has predicted what many are interpreting as the end of the world. However if your reading this that obviously didn’t happen. For the past several months many people have freaking out thinking that the world as We know it would end on the 21st of December in 2012. This has become such an issue that NASA actually put out video in this subject.

Now that We have established that Life Goes on lets talk about some REAL problems in 2012 and the up coming 2013.

  1. The US faces a fiscal cliff and possibility of an economic collapse unless our Congress makes some very drastic changes to our fiscal policy. Fiscal Cliff Looms

  1. The Bush Tax Cuts Expire meaning that those of who work for a living will see a lot more money taken out of our checks every week. Here is a link to the details of the hikes; What Happens If the Bush Tax Cuts Expire?.

  1. We continue to loose more and more of civil rights and our freedom with every passing day. The Government can seemingly spy on you when ever they like, the TSA can either expose Us to dangerous radiation in their Body scanners and or grope us heavily in their search for weapons or other “suspicious items you might be carrying”. Now I don’t know about you but if someone is going to feel me up they should at-least have courtesy to buy me dinner first. Yet Another TSA Official Outed As A Sexual Deviant . Next lets talk about free speech. The Final Frontier of True Free Speech, the Internet, is under attack by both Our government and the UN who both want to control it. U.N. to Seek Control of the Internet. Obama Executive Order On CyberSecurity Coming In January

  2. The ever rising food prices and the possibility of a food shortage in the year to come. Why 2013 will be a year of crisis This link is to a CNN article that spells this out in painful detail.

  1. Your Right to Keep and Bare Arms is under attack. The Recent Tragic Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School is being used by Gun control supporters to attack Your gun rights. Media Calls for Obama to Act Like a Dictator and Ban Guns . I Have nothing but the deepest sympathys for the Families who lost loved ones during the shooting. That being said, let me make something clear. A Gun didn’t Kill those people, the person who pulled the trigger did. A gun is tool, a machine or mechanism, it can be used to save lives or even to protect them, it does not have to used to harm innocents. Perhaps instead of dwelling on the gun issues We should be looking at why this person did this in the first place. We live in a society in which We are saturated by violence, in TV, News, and even the video games our children play. This exposure to violence has desensitized people, especially young people to violence and its consequences. The Impact of Media Violence on Children and Adolescents: Opportunities for Clinical Interventions .

All five of these are REAL reasons you should be concerned about what 2013 will bring. One thing is for certain 2013 will be challenging to say the least but not the end of the world. In my opinion what will ultimately make the difference in 2013 and beyond will be Us the People both in the US and around the world. What We do or do not do will determine our future. The time to sit back and watch the World go by is over. Its time to get up and get involved. What ever you believe in, stand up for it. Write your Congressman, start a petition, fax them, email them or even pick the phone and call them. What ever the issue, get involved and let your representative know what you think. If you sit back and do nothing then you have nothing to complain about. Our future may be looking a little bleak but time is fluid and ever changing and if we all step up and work together we can turn these things around.
